The Horn Program in Entrepreneurship at the University of Delaware was started in 2012 largely through a generous $3 million grant from Charlie Horn, pictured here with Matt Miades, founder of The Edge, and two of Matt’s fellow University of Delaware Lerner College Board Members.
This night represented the official opening of the Venture Development Center, which provides some terrific new dedicated space for entrepreneurial University of Delaware students to work together in bringing their ideas to fruition! It was a wonderful event, and Matt got a chance to shoot the breeze with Jack Markell (Governor of the state of Delaware), Bruce Weber (Dean of the Lerner School), Charlie Horn (Entrepreneur and key donor) and many other business and community supporters of the University. There was a lot of energy in the room and a strong shared excitement about the new program and it’s new home!
Matt Miades currently sits on the University’s Lerner College Alumni Advisory Board and the Accounting and MIS Department Advisory Board. He also is working on a board initiative to provide better forums, guest speakers and resources to Asian students to enable a smoother transition to American culture and improve their employment prospects.
